Synopsis About 500 years ago during the time of Chosun Dynasty, Korea boasted a rigidly hierarchical and male dominated social structure. Set in this period, "Jewel in the Palace" is based on a true story about a legendary girl (Jang Geum) who became the first woman to be the supreme royal physician of her times.
Jang Geum consults with Dr Shin about Suk Won's symptoms. They realise she has high blood pressure and raise the alarm. The physician claims ignorance of the situation and gets demoted. and Jang Geum tells her not to use food or meds as a weapon again. ( a theme of the drama)

On her way back to the palace, JangGeum stops by the Royal library to drop off a letter for Jung, WoonBaek and encounters Min, JungHo. On the day she returns to the Royal kitchen, she starts preparing for the NaIn Qualification Exam.
